“Supporting individuals on a healing journey toward a more fulfilling life is my goal.”
Lowell is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing at Dominion Behavioral Health since 2006. He is Certified in Death, Dying and Bereavement. Grief and loss encompass much more than the death of a loved one. It can also include: loss of a job, loss of a beloved pet, changes in physical health and numerous life transitions. Grieving is a personal journey and part of the healing involves sharing feelings, having them acknowledged and receiving support from others.
Lowell works with couples desiring a more fulfilling connection, healthy communication and effective conflict resolution. Unresolved chronic feelings of guilt and shame can be underlying factors in self-esteem issues that can have significant negative impacts on relationships. Addressing forgiveness is a key aspect of his helping clients achieve increased peace and fulfillment.
He also is sensitive to those individuals who incorporate faith as an important aspect of their lives and can help individuals reconnect with or strengthen their faith as a part of their therapy. Lowell primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address symptoms of Anxiety and Depression. Lowell provides mental health assessments required before Bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Making the decision to have the surgery also requires a commitment to a permanent lifestyle change with the surgery only being one part of that process.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Liberty University. When Lowell is not working, he and his wife enjoy riding their recumbent bikes and trikes on trails and having some “wind therapy” riding his motorcycle.
