James S. Willis, III, M.S., LPC: James “Jim” Willis, is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is also a Nationally Certified Counselor. He has a Master’s Degree from Radford University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Averett University.
Jim has over 35-years of clinical experience, encompassing a career which includes: work in Community Mental Health, private practice, in hospitals, and work with managed care companies. During his career, Jim has worked in both the public and private sector with experience in individual, family, and group psychotherapy. He has been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1991.
Jim’s practice primarily focuses on working with adults in both individual and group settings. Jim is experienced in working with general mental health, the severely mentally ill, substance abuse, depression, ADHD and anxiety disorders. He has had many years working with Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient and Co-Occurring populations. His areas of treatment modality focus around Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Jim also pulls from additional treatment modalities such as Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. When not working, Jim enjoys time with his wife and family, dogs, and gardening.
