Ashvin Patel, M.D., DLFAPA, is board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry. He is an experienced psychiatrist with over 30 years working with various psychiatric disorders and providing diagnostic and psychiatric evaluations. Dr. Patel is very experienced with psychiatric pharmacological management in adult and geriatric populations. He graduated from Baroda Medical College, Baroda, India and completed his psychiatric residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital (affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine), Bronx, NY.
Dr. Patel had a private practice in Bristol TN/VA for many years in addition to serving as Medical Director of Psychiatry at Wellmont Healthcare System. He also worked as a clinical professor of psychiatry at East Tennessee State University School of Medicine, Johnson City, TN. During his tenure, he taught psychiatric residents for over 20 years. Dr. Patel was awarded “Best Clinical Faculty” by his residents on several occasions, as well as recognized by The American Psychiatric Association (APA) for his distinguished contributions in teaching psychiatric residents.
Dr. Patel is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA and recognized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as an exemplary psychiatrist. Dr. Patel’s interest is in treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD and geriatric disorders. He provides psychiatric diagnoses and medical management of psychiatric disorders with limited psychotherapy.
